The original creators behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has claimed that parent company Unilever stopped the launch for an innovative pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, that established the business with his partner, revealed how he will personally create this new product as part of an individual collection showcasing causes Ben & Jerry's has been prevented from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Conflict Involving Creators versus Parent Company

The recent development escalates the ongoing disagreement among the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the British packaged goods giant which has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

The co-founders have claimed how Unilever and its ice cream arm the Magnum brand unlawfully blocked their company from "maintaining its activist principles".

Watermelon Sorbet becoming a Symbol for Support

The entrepreneur revealed via social media that he is creating a new watermelon-based sorbet, asking for public suggestions for naming options and additional components.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen stated in his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-based ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians while demanding addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians due to its colors, which mirror the colors in Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement and Current Changes

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, resulting in Unilever transferring their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

The new product line will be created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious dessert company that originally created several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Bernie Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes and Upcoming Intentions

The founder indicated how he will create other frozen dessert varieties focusing on issues that the company was prevented from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

The announcement follows partner Jerry Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, after many years with the organization, citing worries that the company's autonomy was compromised following Unilever's decision to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen remarked that “My partner has strong compassion and this conflict with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to keep working within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that it can actualise the social mission, the principles that it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
