No league markets equal footing in the manner of the NFL: it defines their identity. Yet following ten games during the current schedule, this doesn't represent a landscape featuring uniform distribution between the good, the bad and the mediocre. It’s one where most of the league are merely adequate.

NFC Standings Definition

Looking at the NFC side, to some degree, the picture becomes more distinct. The Rams and Seahawks (both at 7-2) seem like the most balanced franchises in football, and delivered decisive victories in their weekend matchups. The 6-2 Eagles despite their struggles still have a deeply skilled squad throughout football, likewise with Green Bay (five wins, two losses, one tie). Even the Lions (6-3), with their fluctuating form along both lines of scrimmage while managing internal staff conflicts, have proven they can defeat quality opponents. AFC Confusion

In the AFC however, the playoff picture is a jumbled mess. The four teams leading their divisions after ten games: Indianapolis, New England, Denver (each with 8-2 records) along with Pittsburgh (5-4). Read that again. Kansas City isn't there. No Bills inclusion. Neither Ravens nor Bengals. The fact Baltimore began with a 1-5 record yet still appear likely to claim the title is telling about the complete conference.

Established Contenders

The Ravens represent a segment of the Big Three – together with Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, that would continue to generate the highest anxiety among competitors if they qualified. They’re the No One Wants To See ‘Em teams, however, both franchises cannot get out of their own way.

Buffalo Bills
