Netflix Selects Spot-On Performer for Bentham in One Piece Upcoming Installment
The Secret Organization is poised to exert significant influence in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. This character can use their power to morph into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a rendition of that role reimagined as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member joins several other fresh additions who will portray the group to reality, including head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Although the role is a major member of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Given season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the placement of their first appearance, one that could suggest more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the part. Along with their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is due to premiere for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
