President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Community members gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to help others.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy led the government to halt refugee claims and cease issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to his relatives.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
