Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a premises close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement stated.
CCTV footage showed a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the crime scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," added an official.
