The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series from Critical Role, revealed a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition created by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will love its presence.

But for me, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has already said that the animated show will have some changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.
